Remix Therapeutics is a company focused on discovering modulators of RNA processing for undruggable disease drivers with the promise to bring new medicines to patients. We are developing a suite of proprietary platform technologies that transform our ability to design and develop therapeutics that can selectively modulate various steps of RNA processing biology. Position Summary:

We seek a highly motivated, M.S. or Ph.D. level computational chemist or cheminformatician to join our team located in Cambridge, MA. As a member of the Computational Chemistry group, this individual will be responsible for hit identification, hit-to-lead progression, and lead-optimization to enable new drug discovery programs at Remix.  The ideal candidate will have strong background in chemistry, cheminformatics, and molecular modeling. The candidate should be comfortable working with high dimensional datasets and providing structural insight to support screening campaigns and drug discovery programs. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic scientist who can work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic innovative startup environment, and demonstrate creativity, flexibility, initiative, and independence.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide computational chemistry and cheminformatics support towards library design, hit triaging, hit-to lead progression, and lead optimization
  • Develop new approaches to streamline and enhance computational workflows
  • Develop and apply cheminformatics and machine learning based workflows to analyze high dimensional data, prioritize compounds for screening, triage compound ideas for synthesis, and derive rules for selectively targeting RNA processing
  • Provide informed view and actionable insight to optimize activity, selectivity, and physiochemical properties
  • Effectively work in a cross-functional capacity to deliver high-quality results
  • Effectively communicate scientific project goals, progress, and outcomes across the organization
  • Be a valuable Remixer to influence decisions


  • D. degree in Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Cheminformatics, Biophysics, or related discipline with 0-5 years of industrial or postdoctoral experience (or MS in one of these fields with 7+ years of related experience)
  • Working knowledge of medicinal chemistry, cheminformatics, and computer aided drug design principles
  • Cheminformatics expertise including modern machine learning methods, chemical reaction/library enumeration, 2D/3D similarity, clustering, dimensionality reduction, and data mining/visualizations
  • Expertise in MPO, including off-target selectivity and DMPK
  • Experience in solving complex problems through in-depth analysis of data
  • Expert level experience with scientific programming and data visualization tools (Python and Spotfire)
  • Computational chemistry experience including structure-based design (receptor and ligand-based), scaffold hopping, docking, molecular dynamics, and conformational analysis
  • Molecular modeling experience such as receptor/ligand-based virtual screening
  • Familiarity with cloud computing environments (Google, AWS, and HPC)
  • Experience with molecular modeling tools such as CCG MOE or Schrodinger
  • RNA modeling experience would be a plus
  • Familiarity with molecular dynamics would be a plus
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to conduct independent research
