Remix Therapeutics is focused on discovering new treatments for patients through selective modulation of RNA processing for undruggable disease drivers. We seek creative, motivated scientists with strong publication records and experimental skills to support the development and progression of new small molecules targeting RNA processing in oncology.  The successful candidate will be responsible for validating putative drug targets; investigating molecular mechanisms downstream of target-drug interaction; and developing disease-relevant assays for profiling lead compounds.  We are looking for highly motivated, independent and enthusiastic scientists to work in our dynamic, team-oriented and innovative startup environment.

The company is financed by Atlas Venture and The Column Group and is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Principal duties and responsibilities

  • Responsibility for target biology for an oncology drug discovery program
  • Design and execute experiments in support of target validation
  • Investigate molecular pathogenesis of candidate drug targets
  • Develop disease relevant cellular models for lead compound profiling

  • Present data within the company and to external partners in various formats
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental protocols and data in laboratory notebooks

Qualifications

  • PhD in cancer biology with a strong publication record. Alternatively, a BS/MS with 10 years or more with significant experience in cancer biology.
  • Strong experience in tissue culture techniques
  • Familiarity with a broad range of RNA and protein analysis techniques and cellular assays: immunoblotting, RT-PCR, plate readers, etc.
  • Experience with gene modulation techniques in cell-based functional genomic studies (RNAi, CRISPR, cDNA overexpression, etc.)
  • Basic familiarity with application of genomic and transcriptomic data findings to selection/design of preclinical models
  • Experience with data generation and mining using various NGS technologies (e.g. whole genome, RNAseq and ChIPseq) is preferred
  • Ability to collaborate with matrix team members (e.g. chemistry, lead discovery, bioinformatics, etc.)
  • Critical thinking, attention to detail and careful record-keeping
